Setting up a live wallpaper on Android

Step by step

  1. Install an app with a live wallpaper, for example TCG Scan & Collect.
  2. Open the app and follow its prompt to set the wallpaper, or long-press the home screen and open the wallpaper settings.
  3. Choose the app's live wallpaper.
  4. Choose whether it should show on the lock screen, the home screen or both, and confirm.

Menu names differ between manufacturers. On Pixel phones the menu is called Wallpaper & style, on Samsung phones Wallpaper.

How it differs from iPhone

On iPhone, apps cannot change the lock screen wallpaper. They use Live Activities instead. On Android, the live wallpaper itself is the app's surface.

Can I go back to my old wallpaper?
